14 YEAR-OLD BABE RUTH WORLD SERIES IN LOUDOUN COUNTY VIRGINIA
FIREMAN’S FIELD, PURCELLVILLE VA
AUGUST 21 – 28, 2010

TOURNAMENT FUNDING AND COORDINATION -
The Greater Loudoun Babe Ruth World Series, Inc. was organized as a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization to raise the funds to sponsor Babe Ruth World Series tournaments in Loudoun County. Funds to conduct this tournament are being raised through public and private sponsorships, advertising, admissions, concessions, and souvenirs. In-kind donations and monetary contributions are also received from businesses as well as the Town of Purcellville. The Loudoun County Government also approved funding through a grant from the Restricted Transient Occupancy Tax.

The Greater Loudoun Babe Ruth World Series, Inc. and all the related activities are conducted by volunteers. There are no paid staff in the organization

GETTING THERE –

  • To Downtown Purcellville: Heading west on Route 7 from Leesburg. As you near Purcellville, exit to the right onto Route 287 (Purcellville/Lovettsville). Go down the ramp and at the stoplight, turn left (south) on Berlin Tnpk. (Route 287) towards Purcellville. At the end of Rt. 287 turn right onto Business Route 7 (Main Street). Follow Main Street into downtown area.
  • To Downtown Purcellville: " Heading east on Route 7 from Winchester. As you near Purcellville, exit to the right onto Route 287 (Purcellville/Lovettsville). Go down the ramp and turn right (south) on Berlin Tnpk. (Route 287) towards Purcellville. At the end of Rt. 287 turn right onto Business Route 7 (Main Street). Follow Main Street into downtown area.
- To Fireman's Field: Stay on Main Street for almost 2 miles into downtown Purcellville. After you pass the 3rd stoplight, turn left onto Nursery Avenue; bear to right as the road makes a Y and Fireman's Field will be ahead on the left.
- To Loudoun Valley High School: Site of the Banquet and shuttle parking to the stadium. After exiting off Route 7 go to the end of the ramp and at the stoplight, turn left (south) onto Berlin Tnpk. (Rt. 287) towards Purcellville. Go app.1/4 mile and turn right onto Hirst Road; go app. ¼ mile and turn left on Maple Avenue; the school will be on the left.

HOTEL RESERVATIONS -

To make a hotel room reservation for the tournament:

  1. Go to www.wstsports.com
  2. In the upper left hand portion of the website you will see "Event Code" with a blank box underneath.
  3. Enter BabeRuth into the box and click "Go"
  4. This will take you to the Babe Ruth World Series mini website. A picture of several hotels are displayed. To view information about a hotel, click on the blue link that states the hotel name. To reserve your room within the block, simply click the "Book Now" button and fill in your information. This is a secure site. Your credit card information is protected by VeriSign!
  5. Immediately after reserving your room, you will be emailed a confirmation that displays your reservation details. DO NOT DELETE THIS EMAIL. If you need to change or cancel your reservation, simply click on the link provided and proceed according to your hotel's cancellation policies. All changes and cancellations can be made online!

GAME TICKETS -

  • Tickets for individual days are $7.00. Children under the age of 6 are admitted free. Individual day tickets will be sold only on the day of the game.
  • Tournament passes are $25.00 for an individual and $45.00 for a family of up to four. Tournament passes are valid for up to 8 game day admissions.
  • Tournament passes will be available at the following locations:
Loudoun County Parks, Recreation & Community Services 3rd floor - Leesburg.
Fireman's Field Concession Stand - Purcellville .

PARKING -
  • Parking at Fireman’s Field will be available until 3:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday; all day on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Parking at Fireman’s Field for all other days and times is reserved for host families, sponsors and game officials. Free public parking will be available at Loudoun Valley High School, which is located at 340 North Maple Avenue. (See directions above) Street parking is limited and no parking areas will be strictly enforced.
  • Shuttle buses will run between Loudoun Valley and the stadium starting one hour before each game and until one hour after the game each day. Parking and the shuttle buses are free.
  • Local residents are encouraged to walk to the stadium and bike racks will be available outside of the stadium.

STADIUM REGULATIONS -

  • Fireman's field is a tobacco, alcohol and drug free area.
  • Lawn chairs, coolers, air horns and pets will not be allowed into the stadium.

OPENING BANQUET -

  • The opening banquet will be held at Loudoun Valley High School on August 20 beginning at 6:30 PM. Former Yankee second baseman Bobby Richardson will be the featured guest speaker.
  • Anyone can attend the August 20 evening banquet, however seating is limited and advance ticket purchases are recommended. The doors to the banquet will open at 5:45 PM. The cost for the banquet is $25.00 per person. Information about banquet tickets is available by calling 540-338-0012.

SOUVENIRS -

  • Souvenirs will be available throughout the tournament at Fireman’s Field. Items to be sold will include hats, shirts, jackets, lanyards, tournament pins and programs.
